AppControl looks like a great app. My problem is when I open the app from the taskbar my CPU usage goes to 71%. I then notice that it’s appControl itself consuming 53%. I’m using Windows 11 25H2. At this rate I really can’t use the app even though I like all the functionality of it. Does someone know what’s going on here? Thanks
Sorry for the issue. Do you mean your CPU usage goes to 71% for a second, or it permanently stays at 71% while using AppControl?
May I ask what processor you have?
AppControl will use some resources while in active use similar to Task Manager itself. For example, to draw our graphs we will use your GPU while you are using the app actively, but when you close AppControl the GPU usage should go to zero.
Do you have an integrated GPU? If so, your CPU will take over the place of the GPU to make our graph animate, so maybe that’s what’s going on?
We use Flutter for our user interface, and one of the downsides (for integrated GPU users) is that it uses the GPU when it’s actively used. But, if you have no GPU and it’s integrated then it can use the CPU. When you aren’t actively using AppControl though it should use almost no resources.
It’s just when you are actively using AppControl it will use some resources, similar to Task Manager and other similar software.
Thanks for your feedback, and we will keep working to make AppControl use even less resources, and we’ll see if we can make improvements specifically for people with integrated GPUs.
With the Performance Mode setting at:
Efficient: 8-14% hovering at 9-10% mostly.
Performance: 39-57% hovering at 49-50% mostly.

It’s a desktop I built in 2008 having an Intel E8400 on an Asus G35 chipset mobo, 4 GB RAM and 250 MB HDD, no discreet video card. Win10 Pro began in 2014 with an Insider Program pre-release up to its current 22H2.
I know AppControl could live with the rhymes-with-fry-smelter 15 Pro I run on my i9-9900K Z370 Win10 Pro desktop but it and rhymes-with-grass-fire ee-leet offer all the on-the-go control I need. For deeper analysis or scrutiny there are the Sysinternals and Nirsoft tools I’ve used for decades.
As the FrySmelter/AppControl<>AppControl/FrySmelter waters are murky at this point, I run AppControl to acquire some level of familiarity with it. (This is not meant to open a discussion on this subject here.)
The actual purpose of my post was to perhaps motivate the OP to discover the performance mode settings. Or if otherwise known, drop a hint of the failure to mention it which would help with that “Does someone know what’s going on here?”
