In an update to Google Chrome, the “Events” tab lists a total of 8 events. While this could technically be true, I don’t know that there is any value-add in having this level of detail.
Might it be possible to summarize these into fewer lines that provide all the required info?
Maybe just a single “App updated” and a single “new app launched”?
I understand how this may not be possible and any attempt to summarize things possibly could result in errors in summarizing and may therefore not be desirable. So just a somewhat random thought/idea.
Thank you for your feedback. We currently imagine doing a revision of our “alerts” tab where the user can choose exactly what events should be shown, along with giving the optional ability to show a desktop alert (as it is now).
In the planned revision of the alerts screen you would be able to choose not to show any new apps, or updates for apps at all if you didn’t want to. You could narrow down the events screen settings to see only what you want.
I guess we could also have kind of an option where events are more focused on publishers and they are collapsed by default, where you could expand them to see more details, if people really like this idea? For myself, I see events as a place I can search and drill into details if something happens on my PC and I like to have all this available and searchable. For things I am more concerned about I set up desktop alerts so I am more aware when these specific things happen, for example suspicious apps.
Community FYI: In the comparable latest version rhymes-with-slysmelter pro application, eventually the events go silent. I have gone weeks without a peep but for Defender definition and stub updates. And an occasional check on the Events panel, those assure me those processes are working.
I recently welcomed the examination of the 12-event “noise” for a manual update to a popular firewall I’ve run for a decade or so.
Which is not to say highly custom fine-tuning isn’t desirable.
